CAMPUS INTERVIEWS : UBS

Campus Interviews

Part 20 :

Me: Hi Tanvi! How is your lockdown vacation going?

Tanvi: Not a vacation to be honest hahah! I have been busy with the Internship work.

It has swept away 2 months just like that.

Me: Congratulations on getting into UBS for your internship.

Tanvi: Thanks a lot!

Me: How was the internship interview experience?

Tanvi: There were 2 technical rounds, followed by an HR round (that wasn't really a HR round). Not everyone had all rounds.

You had to be selected in order for the next round.

They checked our logical reasoning - how we come up with solutions, what is our way of thinking, in both technical and non technical fields.

Me: Oh okay, what type of questions were you asked?

Tanvi: Questions were from OOPS, Data Structures, Logical aptitude, analytical reasoning.

The HR round was focused to see our problem solving, decision making abilities and how reasonable our answers were.

There were "real life scenarios" that we had to come up with solutions for.

Me: That's really informative. Which books or websites did you refer for your preparation?

Tanvi: GeeksforGeeks for logical aptitude, and honestly Neha Koria ma'ams concepts of Oops were absolutely perfect.

(Refer to her classes students if you want). Common data structures and just basic logic should be good.

Me: What advice would you like to give your juniors?

Tanvi: In all answers you give, all companies test your presence of mind along with whatever technical qualifications they want.

Always show that you're ready to learn. Be professional with the whole experience. Don't be late to interviews, tests.

Don't stress about interviews. Cheesy, I know everyone says it. But I cannot stress on the fact that "whatever happens, happens for a reason".

I will prove this with an example. I got shortlisted for Dell as well, before UBS. For the interviews, I was first of the lot.

I was out in 4 mins or less. The guy didn't even read my resume. I answered all his questions correctly, so that wasn't a problem either.

But I'll tell you what, I kept preparing and the next company after Dell was UBS.

And oh boy - everybody not only acknowledged the resume, but in fact said it was very impressive.

And UBS offered more stipend than Dell, and a better job domain than Dell.

So guess what if the Dell guy had read my resume and cared to ask questions,

UBS wouldn't have happened. So whatever happens, happens for a reason.

Me: Well that's true-things happen for a reason. Thanks a lot for sharing your interview experience with us. Would you mind giving us your email ID in case people have more doubts ?

Tanvi: No worries. I’ll DM it to you and if anyone has any more queries, you can let them know.

Me : Okay. I will. Thanks again!
