Part 10 :

 

Me: Hey Meghana!How have you been spending your quarantine vacation?

Meghana: Trust me, I'm not evil, but I have been enjoying quarantine a little too much. It'll be difficult to adjust to reality when this gets over.

Me: Well that's great!Congratulations on getting into Verloop.io for your internship. Is it alright if I ask you a few questions? 

 

Meghana: Go ahead.

Me: So how was it? The whole interview experience. What kind of topics did they focus on? 

Meghana: I interviewed with verloop (conversational AI startup) externally for the role of ML Intern specializing in NLP. I believe this process  generalizes well for most startup interviews(my Udaan interview was similar) 

1. Telephonic intro calls you will be asked about your interests,

why you want to apply for the role, what are your previous experiences. Once your resume is shortlisted this is generally the first step. 

2. Upon understanding the fit, the next round for verloop was take home API task which involved designing a REST API and considering real-time edge case pagination of load testing. Documentation, code quality is appreciated. 

3. The third round involved live coding(pair coding) which was ML focused.  Here I was given the dataset and problem statement during the interview and was expected to come up with a solution.

his involved talking about your idea and thinking of processing out loud. 

4. The final round was with the CEO and was more of a discussion about my likes, the projects I've done. The reasoning behind them.

Me: Oh that's interesting.Any other questions that they asked?

Meghana: 1. What previous work you have done? 

          2. Knowledge in the domain you're applying to.

Me: Oh okay, What books or websites would you recommend for preparation?

Meghana: For DSA interview preparation, I would recommend interviewbit and for ML interview, I would recommend going through your basics again and again.

Me: Oh awesome. Thank you so much. Any suggestions for your juniors? 

Meghana: The most important factor is your enthusiasm for an interview. Don't be shy to show that.
